Photographic Expeditions is a specialist tour operation providing charter
style experiences for professional and serious amateur photographers. Itineraries
are negotiated individually and can have a duration of up to five days. Content
is based on the type of photographic experience that each participant requires,
ie Historical, Nature, Landscape, Geological, Wildlife, Cultural, etc.
BACKGROUND
Outback
Photographic Expeditions have been operating since 1989. The business operates
through the leadership of Alice Springs professional photographer Steve Strike.
Renowned in photographic circles as "the outback photographer" Steve has made
a living photographing the Northern Territory. During the past 20 years Steve
has had the opportunity to undertake many photographic assignments into remote
parts of the Territory. With this knowledge the secrets of the Outback can
be captured on film by enthusiasts who would have previously been denied the
opportunity.
EXPEDITION
LEADER
A
professional photographer will always accompany the expedition as leader.
Technical advice and assistance of a photographic nature will be provided
at all times. Professional photographer Steve Strike will endeavor to accompany
the expedition where possible.
ITINERARY
(SINGLE DAY)
For a full day expedition a before dawn departure is essential. Exact timing
is dependent on the time of the year. The pre dawn light in Central Australia
is a unique phenomenon and must be captured on film to be believed. After
sunrise we make our way to a number of significant attractions of the enthusiasts
choice. A single Day charter could take us as far as Arltunga to the East,
or Palm Valley, Gosses Bluff or Glen Helen to the West. To the South we could
take in Rainbow Valley, Ewaninga and Deep Well Station. To the North cattle
country with Visits to Bond Springs & Hamilton Downs. The days are extremely
long, however most of the long travel sections are undertaken during the middle
of the day when the light for photography isnt so good. Late afternoon sees
us looking for some good locations to capture the afternoon light. Then to
another spot to wait for an Outback sunset. Nightfall sees the expedition
head back to Alice to finish the day at around 8-9pm.
